    New salon set for growth

“If I let fear control me, I’ll never achieve what I want in life,” Lily Bong said at the soft opening of her salon The Queenz Hair Studio yesterday.

Lily in an interview with the Bulletin said opening her own salon has always been her dream since she ventured into this industry more than 16 years ago.

She has been in the hair industry for over 16 years. She gained experience at a celebrity hair salon in Taiwan before returning to Brunei, where she was among the first hairstylists at a salon. After working at another salon for more than six years, she finally took the leap to start her own business.

“I feel proud and anxious at the same time. It’s not just about opening a salon but following my passion. If I waited until I turned 40, I might regret it – so I decided to take the risk now. If you have a dream and are sure about it, just go for it,” she said.

Lily, a Malaysian who grew up in Brunei, acknowledged the challenges of starting her own business but pushed forward without hesitation.
