New economic bloc creation will help with food security

Azlan Othman

The creation of a new economic bloc would assist the world of trade and investments, especially in food security.

Deputy Secretary General of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brunei Darussalam (NCCIBD) Haji Abdul Halim bin Saim said this during the ASEAN Plus Three Forum on Industrial and Supply Chain Cooperation, Taihu East Asian Entrepreneurs Forum on Thursday.

Cooperation of industrial and supply chains will boost exchanges in the relevant fields to better serve businesses and improve the livelihood of people in the ASEAN Plus Three (APT) member countries (China, Japan and Korea), Haji Abdul Halim said, adding that it would be “a win-win for all”.

The NCCIBD is supportive of the ‘Jointly Building Demonstration Parks for Innovative Development of Economy and Trade, Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Implementation, Logistics and Supply Chain Development, Digital Economy and Green Development, and Industrial Chain and Supply Chain Finance’ forum within the APT region, as we trust that more activities and projects could be expedited to benefit both enterprises and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) within the APT region, he said.
