The Ministry of Religious Affairs through the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) and in collaboration with the New Converts Association held a handover ceremony for the Fathul Barakah 6.0 Project at the Tutong District Community Hall Complex yesterday to ease the burden on new Muslim converts (asnaf muallaf), especially in preparation for Ramadhan.
Thirteen needy muallaf families in the Tutong District received food items, food and beverage vouchers and information about the tedarus programmes, sungkai and Sunnat Tarawih prayer.
Legislative Council (LegCo) member and Mukim Ukong Penghulu Yang Berhormat Haji Mohamad Danial @Tekpin bin Ya’akub officiated the event.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah by Assistant Religious Officer at the Tutong District Dakwah Unit Office Salihan bin Samra followed by a welcoming speech from Assistant Director of the PDI and Co-Deputy Chairman of Fathul Barakah 6.0 Project Haji Ahmad Abdussalam bin Haji Abd Rahman.
The assistant director expressed his appreciation to the public for their response to the Fathul Barakah project.

He explained, “The Fathul Barakah 6.0 Project is implemented to give people the opportunity to donate to the needy converts.
“It is hoped that it will ease the burden of the recipients and allow them to experience the blessings of Ramadhan, Insya Allah.”
The Fathul Barakah Project 6.0 marked the sixth time it has been carried out by the PDI through the Muallaf Development Division (Muallaf Welfare) and the Belait, Tutong and Temburong Dakwah Units, in collaboration with the New Converts Association.
More than 600 sets of infak (alms) were collected through the project, distributed in all four districts via drive-thru.
In the Brunei-Muara District, collections were made at the Darul Huda Building, PDI, Kampong Pulaie on February 8 and 9. In Tutong, Belait, and Temburong Districts, collections were held at the Dakwah Unit Offices on February 10 and 11.
The distribution of infak will continue with the Muallaf Development Division (Muallaf Welfare), PDI and the District Dakwah Units visiting the homes of selected muallaf.
LegCo member and Kampong Sengkarai Village Head Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan and New Converts Association members also attended the handover ceremony. – Fadhil Yunus
