The Pesta Netball Kitani (PNK) came to a close yesterday following a near month-long programme and activities to spur the growth and development of netball in the country.
Acting Director of Community Development Department Fauziah binti Haji Mohd Salleh was the guest of honour during the closing ceremony at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex. Also present were Brunei Netball Association (BNA) President Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Hajah Wan Shahlimar binti Haji Suhaili, Managing Director of YMRM Hitesh Bhawnani and Hii Sui Hei from Teabox Sdn Bhd.
The closing ceremony coincided with an exhibition match between the national netball team, affectionately known as the Royal Bees and the national under-21 team which is also called the Young Bees. The event was followed with a prize presentation for different categories that held in the past week of PNK 2023; Grassroots Fundamental Netball (Under-12, Under-14, and Under-18); Veteran category; and Corporate category.
Pesta Netball Kitani kicked off on August 5 with the launch of ‘Netsquad’- together with Super Squad- and has been running events every weekend such as the grassroots netball sessions, Netball World Cup 2023 screening, Veteran Tournament, Community Netball, and Corporate Tournament. – Fadhil Yunus
