His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will celebrate his 78th birthday tomorrow, prior to which a nationwide Doa Kesyukuran will be held at mosques, suraus and religious halls this evening.
A rehearsal for the Doa Kesyukuran ceremony was held at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong yesterday.
Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, as the chairman of the national committee for His Majesty’s 78th birthday celebration and Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar were present to oversee the rehearsal. Also in attendance were Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan.
Besides Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Doa Kesyukuran ceremonies will also be held at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital, Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Mentiri, Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Kampong Jerudong, Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Serusop, Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Kampong Sengkurong, Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque in Kampong Sungai Kebun, Setia Ali Mosque in Pekan Muara and RPN Lambak Kanan Mosque in Berakas.
Meanwhile, in the Belait District, besides Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque, the ceremonies will be held at RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque and Pekan Seria Mosque, while in the Tutong District, there will be a ceremony at Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque and in the Temburong District, at Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque.
A grand parade at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the capital, followed by the audience and investiture ceremony, will take place tomorrow, where state decorations will be conferred in conjunction with His Majesty’s 78th birthday celebration.
The audience and investiture ceremony represents His Majesty’s appreciation to the recipients for their service and contributions in areas directed towards the Sultanate’s development and progress. – Azlan Othman
