All defendants in the syndicated family drug ring case dubbed the ‘Musang King’ are now represented in a High Court mention yesterday.
Ahmad bin Haji Tamit is represented by defence counsel Mohd Shazale bin Mat Salleh of his own firm.
Ahmad’s wife Maskunah binti Wahab is represented by lawyer Sharah Abdul Hamid of Messrs ZS Legal.
The couple’s children – Isamuddin is represented by defence counsel Haji Daud Ismail of Messrs Daud Ismail and Company, Mohammad Saifuddin by defence counsel Mansur Latif of Messrs Abas Serudin and Partners, and Siti Izzatul Munirah represented by lawyer Lenny Rahman of Messrs HLR Law.
Siti Izzatul Munirah’s husband Jakaria bin Ahad is now represented by lawyer Pengiran Shahyzul Pengiran Abdul Rahman of Messrs LZ Hussain and Co.
All defendants are alleged to have in possession 18.9943 kilogrammes of methylamphetamine for trafficking. The drugs were found in the vicinity of a house in Jalan Junjongan.
Allegations include them possessing 532.44 grammes (g) of methylamphetamine in bottles. The defendants live in houses in the area.
Isamuddin also faces one charge of possessing 54.1 g of methylamphetamine inside a plastic bag in the vicinity of a house at Jalan Junjongan.
Siti Izzatul Munirah and Jakaria are also charged with concealing the ownership of a vehicle by registering it under a third party’s name.
Siti Izzatul Munirah faces another charge of possessing over 50 gold jewellery pieces allegedly proceeds of crime.
Judicial Commissioner Muhammed Faisal bin PDJLDR DSP Haji Kefli adjourned the case to July 1 for further mention of the case to give way to the newly appointed counsel to look through his client’s case.
Trial dates are yet to be fixed.
Prosecutors Siti Khalillah Hussin and Syafina Abdul Hadzid represented the Public Prosecutor yesterday.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) made the arrests in September 2020, over different occasions, including the seizure of drugs, money and property during the largest ever recorded operation by the bureau.
The NCB has also said that the syndicate is believed to be the biggest and most active family drug business in the country and the largest supplier of Syabu with a network of distribution throughout the country.
