The Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Pekan Tutong and Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Kampong Jerudong ‘B’ emerged as the champions of the Murattal Al-Quran reading competition in the male and female students categories of Al-Quran and Muqaddam Classes at mosques, suraus and religious halls in the country.
Meanwhile, Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque was placed second and Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque Kuala Belait third in the male category.
Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque came in second place and Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Wakeel Mosque in Kampong Kiudang third in the female category.
The prize presentation ceremony was held at the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque yesterday.
Acting Director of Mosque Affairs Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri, the guest of honour, presented the prizes to the winners.
The guest of honour also presented a prize to the winner of the Al-Quran Reading Competition for Tarannum Al-Quran Guidance Class.
The competition aims to produce a young generation well-versed in Al-Quran recitation and to scout young talents from Al-Quran and Muqaddam classes.
The competition was organised jointly by the Mosque Affairs Department through the Imarah Division in cooperation with the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque Takmir Committee.
Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque Takmir Committee Advisor Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Mohammad was also present. – Lyna Mohamad
