The Mosque Affairs Department through the Muslimah Affairs Division with the cooperation from the Pehin Dato Imam Haji Abdul Mokti Mosque takmir committee in Kampong Burung Pingai Ayer yesterday held a ceremony to commemorate Maulidur Rasul, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) for the Brunei-Muara District mosque Muslim guidance class.
Spouse of the Minister of Religious Affairs Datin Hajah Nahriah binti Haji Awang Asbi was the guest of honour. The event saw the recitation of Selawat praising the Prophet (pbuh) and a knowledge sharing session on the variations of Selawat that can be used as daily practices of Zikir.
The event was an answer to the call from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to make Brunei Darussalam a Zikir Nation.
The event aimed to encourage Muslim women to be involved in mosque activities as they strengthen bonds as congregants. – Azlan Othman
