Religious Affairs Department Team 2 emerged winners in the recent Temburong District Religious Affairs Office Futsal Championship after collecting 13 at the Batu Apoi Sports Complex in the Temburong District. Team 1 took the runners-up spot with nine points followed by Team 4 in third place with seven points, and Team 3 in fourth place with six points.
Meanwhile for the individual awards, Abdul Rahim bin Haji Karim scooped the top scorer award while Haji Saifullah bin Haji Taha picked up the best open player category gong and Haji Samri collected the best veteran player award.
The tournament, which is one of the annual activities of the Temburong District Religious Affairs Office, encouraged officers, teachers and staff under the Ministry of Religious Affairs based in the district to be active in sports to achieve a healthy lifestyle.
It also aimed to instil the spirit of sportsmanship, unity, teamwork, togetherness as well as promote ukhuwah among everyone involved.
Participants were from the Islamic Studies Department; the Ministry of Religious Affairs Office; the Mosque Affairs Department; the Syariah Affairs Department; the Islamic Da’wah Centre; and the Brunei Islamic Religious Council.
The tournament was held for six weeks every Saturday culminating in the final round of matches last week.
