The Ministry of Development and its departments held a special gathering to mark Israk Mikraj for 1446 Hijrah at Betabur Hall at the ministry’s building yesterday.
Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid was the guest of honour.
Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Construction Industry and Development) Sr Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Mohd Yaakub, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Corporate and Legal) Aldila binti Haji Mohamad Salleh, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infrastructure, Housing and Professional) Haji Shaharuddin Khairul bin Haji Anuar, the Director General of Public Works, commissioners, directors, and staff from the ministry and its affiliated departments were also in attendance.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a special lecture titled ‘The Meaning Behind Israk Mikraj in Daily Life’ by Religious Development Officer at the Islamic Da’wah Centre Haji Awang Muhammad Najib bin Haji Awang.
The talk highlighted the lessons and inspiration from the Israk Mikraj event, emphasising the importance of repentance, gratitude and recognising the vast mercy of Allah the Almighty.
It also reminded attendees to increase their acts of worship during Nisfu Syaaban in preparation for Ramadhan.
Organised by the Land Department, the event was part of the ministry’s annual religious activities aimed at commemorating and honouring the significance of Israk Mikraj. – Fadley Faisal
