A long pilot study for a Health Index feature on the BruHealth app begins today with 120 selected individuals, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during a press conference yesterday.

The Health Index feature will give individuals their overall health score based on several medical parameters and risk factors, said the minister.

Individuals will be screened for risk factors using a questionnaire which targets nutrition, physical activity, tobacco use and mental health, he said.

“It is hoped that this new feature will help the public be more aware of lifestyle risk factors that contribute to non-communicable diseases and mental health disorders,” said the minister, adding that this could encourage individuals to take early steps to combat issues.

He said that the pilot study for the feature begins today, with 120 individuals sent invitations through the BruHealth app to participate in the evaluation.

“Individuals who receive an invitation can complete the Health Index questionnaire in the application so that the Ministry of Health can evaluate the new feature.

“From there, the feature will be improved and updated before it is fully launched for public use,” said the minister.

Meanwhile, another new feature on the BruHealth App, ‘Risk Assessment’ is also launching today.

The feature aims to provide easy access for the public to assess the risk of certain diseases and make an appointment to participate in the National Health Screening Programme.
