The Ministry of Development (MoD) emerged champions in the men’s open category of the 29th Civil Service Day Futsal Championship after defeating Ministry of Education (MoE) 3-1 in the final at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex yesterday.
Pengiran Army Mazhisham produced a two-goal display to help his team to the title while the other goal came from Safwan Amaluddin bin Sabli. The MoE had earlier levelled the match through Ahmad Hafiz to force the game into extra time.
MoD team captain Md Norazizam bin Roslan told the Bulletin, “Alhamdulillah, our success is the result of the team’s collective efforts. It is the first time that we as a ministry have won the tournament.”
Meanwhile, Ministry of Defence won the veteran’s open category after defeating Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos presented the prizes.
