The Ministry of Home Affairs as well as mukim and village consultative councils held a Tedarus Al-Quran ceremony at Kampong Batu Apoi Mosque in Mukim Batu Apoi, Temburong District yesterday.
Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman attended the event.
The Tedarus Al-Quran as well as Tahlil and Doa Selamat recitation was led by imam of Kampong Batu Apoi Mosque Shamsuddin bin Haji Azahari. This was followed by mass Asar prayer.
The minister also handed over waqaf of electrical items to Shamsuddin as well as donations to orphans.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) also held a Tedarus Al-Quran ceremony yesterday.
The delegation at Kampong Pulaie Mosque was led by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad.
The ceremony began with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by Tedarus Al-Quran and Selawat Tafrijiyyah and Sayyidul Istighfar.
The event also saw the presentation of waqaf to Kampong Pulaie Mosque. A mass Asar prayer marked the end of the ceremony.
Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the MCYS Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary (Youth) at the MCYS Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin, heads of departments, senior officials, officers and staff of MCYS and departments under it as well as Kampong Pulaie Mosque Takmir committee members were also present.
The event was organised by the Language and Literature Bureau and Community Development Department in collaboration with the Kampong Pulaie Mosque Takmir committee.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister (Security and Law) at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu led a delegation from the Prime Minister’s Office at a Tedarus Al-Quran ceremony at the Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in Kuala Belait yesterday.
The ceremony began with the presentation of a waqaf in the form of a power washer to the mosque by the deputy minister and received by the mosque’s imam Mohd Hilmi bin Yakop.
The recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah was led by Dato Seri Paduka Haji Sufian, followed by the mass recitation of Tedarus Al-Quran, Tahlil and Doa Selamat.
Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad was also present.
Having started the series of Tedarus Al-Quran on March 28 at Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam Mosque in the Tutong District, the contingent’s next stop is the Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque at Pekan Bangar in the Temburong District on April 3.
