Minister holds dialogue with future leaders

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah discussed challenges and plans of the country with officers under government executive development programmes in an executive dialogue session yesterday.

The minister spoke on the country’s economic status and its direction for its economy with participants in the Civil Service Leadership Pipeline programme – comprising 30th Cohort of the Executive Development Programme for Senior Government Officers, 34th Cohort of the Executive Development Programme for Middle Management Officers and 8th Cohort of the Young Executive Programme. The executive dialogue session was organised by the Civil Service Institute.

The minister touched on the country’s position globally from the aspects of innovation and economy as well as its challenges, including high dependence on oil and gas, low GDP growth and the fiscal deficit.

The minister shared the government’s methods in dealing with the challenges through strategic plans and roadmaps. The minister said world affairs will also need to be observed as they may affect the planning and economic growth of the country. – Azlan Othman
