MinDef allocated nearly BND800 million budget

The Ministry of Defence (MinDef) is allocated a budget of BND796,304,785 for the 2024-2025 financial year, said Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Mohd Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof yesterday during the 20th session of the Legislative Council (LegCo) meeting.

The minister said the allocation takes into consideration the strategic position of the MinDef as well as the current environment.

The ministry will continue to enhance defence capabilities through asset renewals and improvement in maritime defence as well as monitoring underwater threats, he said.

In the context of defence diplomacy, the ministry will continue to strengthen defence collaboration, both in terms of quantity and quality with friendly nations, he added.

The ministry also placed emphasis on organisational renewal through safety development projects, ensuring existing capabilities are sufficient for military training needs while fostering a culture of safety and well-being among its personnel, added the minister. – Rokiah Mahmud
