Meeting deliberates, approves draft report

The 15th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Caucus Meeting convened for the second day yesterday, to deliberate and approve the meeting’s draft report.

The meeting was followed with the closing ceremony presided by Chairman of the 15th AIPA Caucus Meeting, Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohammad Yusof.

The meeting spanning two days focused on the theme ‘Strengthening ASEAN Cyber Resilience through Parliamentary Cooperation: Towards a Future of Safe and Vibrant Digital Economy’.

Members of Parliament underscored the importance of regional cooperation in enhancing cyber resilience across the ASEAN region.

During the meeting, ASEAN representatives highlighted the need for policy and legal harmonisation to protect digital infrastructure, promote innovation and support the growth of the digital economy.

AIPA members also suggested increasing digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness.

The meeting concluded with a transfer of office ceremony to the next host country, Cambodia. The closing ceremony ended with the signing of the 15th AIPA Caucus Meeting report by the heads of the parliamentary delegations, signifying agreement and consensus on the discussions held. – Rokiah Mahmud
