Man up, chill out

Hi fellow men! Yes, you read that right. Buckle up, this isn’t a drill.

It’s time to talk about something that might make you raise an eyebrow or two: men’s wellness. Now, before you click away thinking this isn’t for you, hear me out.

Taking care of yourself isn’t just about hitting the gym or eating your greens (though those are important too).

It’s about finding balance in your life, treating yourself to some well-deserved pampering, and yes, even having a good cry every now and then.

And men, we all carry burdens day to day, whether married or single. We strive to keep our parents, spouses and children safe and well-fed.

Your health and life are as much theirs as they are yours. So, if not for your sake, do it for your loved ones. Trust me, they’ll thank you for it.

Let’s start with the idea of going to a spa. I can almost hear the collective gasps and protests from my fellow men already. “Spas are for women,” you might say.

Well, think again! Spas are not exclusive clubs for the women; they are sanctuaries of relaxation and rejuvenation for everyone.

And as a man in a midst of a fitness journey, spas are sacred institutions that not only washes away the grime of a gruelling work out, they also alleviate the aches and pains that come with weight loss.

Getting a pedicure might sound even more out of your comfort zone, but hey, your feet deserve some love too!

Think about it: those tired, calloused soles carry you around all day. And if you’re a new father or one with a toddler, those soles carry your children as well, so the least you can do is give them a little TLC.

Plus, who doesn’t love the feeling of clean, smooth feet?

Now, let’s talk about massages. Ah, the stuff dreams are made of. Close your eyes and picture this: soft music playing in the background, the scent of essential oils wafting through the air, and skilled hands working their magic on your tired muscles.

Bliss, right? Whether you opt for the traditional or maybe a deep tissue massage to work out those kinks, a good massage can melt away pain and stress, which your loved ones would probably appreciate once they notice you’re not as grumpy and tense as usual.

And men, if you’re balking at the idea of splurging on a spa trip, hear me out. I’m not talking about those fancy hotel resort spas.

In Brunei, there are plenty of male massage parlours that offer a range of services at pocket-friendly prices.

You can find places that offer full body massages, full-body scrubs, mani-pedis, and even more traditional services like cupping.

These not only help you relax but also contribute to your overall health and wellness.

And let’s be real, can you really put a price on feeling your best? Investing in your well-being is always a wise choice, no matter the cost.

Now, let’s address the elephant in the room: crying. Yes, you read that correctly.

Crying isn’t a sign of weakness – it’s a healthy release of pent-up emotions. Must you be sad to cry? Absolutely not! Shedding tears of joy or being moved can be just as therapeutic. So, why not have a good cry session every now and then? And here’s a little secret: YouTube is a goldmine for “try not to cry” videos that will have even the toughest of men reaching for the tissues.

Go ahead, let it out. Your loved ones will appreciate the lighter, more emotionally available version of you that emerges afterwards.

I know what you’re thinking, “This all sounds great, but how do I actually make time for self-care in my busy schedule?”

Well, my fellow men, it’s all about priorities. Schedule that spa day, book that massage, or indulge in a secret cry session. Your body and mind will thank you for it, and your loved ones will notice the positive changes in you.

So, to all the men out there, step out of your comfort zone and embrace the world of men’s wellness. Treat yourself to some pampering and have a good cry when you need to, you’ll thank me for it. – Wardi Wasil
