THE STAR – A car passenger was killed after the vehicle crashed into a roadside garbage collection site in Sabah’s east coast Sandakan district, Malaysia yesterday.
The man, aged 42, died on the spot following the accident at Jalan Batu Sapi at 8.59am.
Sandakan Deputy OCPD Superintendent Mohd Hamizi Halim said the victim was travelling with five other friends, adding that they were headed to the city centre from Kampong Bahagia when the incident occurred.
He said the driver, aged 29, had lost control of the vehicle before it veered and crashed into the garbage collection site.
“From the impact, the passenger was killed on the spot while four other friends, including the driver, were seriously hurt,” he said, adding that the remaining passenger escaped uninjured.
