Malaysian athletes dominate Chainblock meet

Malaysia dominated the first Chainblock Strongest Men & Women Open Borneo Open 2022 after collecting a near-perfect sweep at the Jalan Bendahara parking lot in the capital last weekend.

Choo Kok Wei emerged winner in the men’s category while his compatriot Joyce Heng – originally from Sabah – claimed the women’s title.

Md Hamizan bin Haji Zainal finished runners-up in the men’s category while the experienced Pengiran Roslannie bin Pengiran Haji Jumat came third.

In the female open category, Alinawati binti Haji Aliakbar took second place while Norsyairah binti Suhaili settled for third place.

Meanwhile in the veteran category, Pengiran Azizul Aliakbar bin Pengiran Haji Badaruddin emerged the winner, followed by runners-up Salman Singar and Sofri bin Haji Tamit in third place.

Brunei Darussalam Strongest Man Association President Pengiran Dato Haji Rosli bin Pengiran Haji Chuchu presented the prizes to the winners.

The tournament was organised by Chainblock led by its President Pengiran Azizul Aliakbar bin Pengiran Haji Badaruddin.

Earlier this month, the Brunei Chainblock Open Strongest Men & Women Open witnessed the top five qualifiers being selected for the Borneo meet.

Md Hamizan emerged winner in the Brunei-only event while Norsyairah won the women’s title.
