Brunei’s leading futsal referee Mohamad Sukry bin Haji Matassim left the country yesterday to take part in the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Cup 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The internationally-certified referee has been appointed by the AFF to officiate the matches.

Mohamad Sukry, who is recognised by world governing body FIFA, previously officiated at the AFF Futsal Championship in Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 2018.

He will be the Sultanate’s third match official who will officiate a regional or continental competition sanctioned by the AFF or Asian Football Confederation (AFC), following the footsteps of Abdul Hakim bin Mohd Haidi and Ali Faisal Rosli.

Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) Executive Committee member Pengiran Haji Aliudin bin Pengiran Haji Tajudin and Brunei Darussalam Football Referee Association President Haji Hamidon bin Haji Md Zin saw Mohamad Sukry off at the Brunei International Airport.
