Local farmers to benefit from increased fertiliser supply

Lyna Mohamad

Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Ghanim International Corporation Sdn Bhd and Brunei Fertilizer Industries Sdn Bhd (BFI), Ghanim began the sale of granular urea fertiliser produced by BFI domestically yesterday.

The domestic sale is in support of Brunei Vision 2035 to develop the nation and invest in increasing output and productivity as well as realise the Sultanate’s objectives to achieve self-sufficiency in agricultural product.

The initiative – supported by the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam – will provide relief for the agricultural sector that is currently contending with the rising cost of imported fertiliser resulting from the disruption in the global supply chain.

Located in Sungai Liang Industrial Park (SPARK), BFI is a world class manufacturer of high-quality granular urea fertiliser and is the largest single train fertiliser plant in Southeast Asia with an annual urea production capacity of 1,365,000 metric tonnes.

BFI’s granular urea fertiliser is available in 50-kilogramme bags and can be obtained from Ghanim’s warehouse facility in Bunut.
