Home-based nursing helps treat patients suffering from trauma after involving in an accident or stroke.
These nurses also educate the family on healthcare. However Tutong and Temburong districts are currently experiencing nurse shortages.
This was said by Minister of Health Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the 19th Legislative Council (LegCo) session yesterday responding to LegCo member Yang Berhormat Hajah Rosmawatyy binti Haji Abdul Mumin on home based nursing services.
The minister said for patients suffering from stroke, they tend to receive healthcare at home to avoid exposure to infections.
The physiotherapist will also take a closer look at the patient’s residence to ascertain whether it is safe for stroke or trauma patients.
They will then refer to a medical social worker and the Community Development Department (JAPEM), Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) or hospital fund, should financial assistance be needed.
