The new Workplace and Health (WAH) programme hope to provide a platform for educational officers to more easily pursue a healthier lifestyle.
The WAH programme is spearheaded by the Ministry of Health as a public-private partnership with Gleneagles JPMC Sdn Bhd.
WAH programme chief coordinator Pengiran Khairel Putra bin Pengiran Ahmad said the programme also hopes to help participants become an inspiration to others.
“Too many times we see health complications arise due to several factors at the workplace or other sources,” said the coordinator.
The programme was launched on Saturday for Belait District teachers and education officers. Some 40 participants from Ministry of Education (MoE) schools in Cluster Six began a six-week exercise and aerobic regime. The session at the Sayyidina Ali Secondary School was organised by the Health, Safety and Environment Division at the Department of Administration and Services; MoE, in collaboration with the Department of Co-curriculum Education.
The programme also serves to highlight and disseminate knowledge on risks associated with non-communicable diseases.
The programme will see a combined 30 exercise sessions across all MoE district branches.
