The Law Society of Brunei Darussalam organised a panel discussion on criminal procedure with Messrs Law Practice of KA Ramu’s KA Ramu as the main speaker recently.
Joining him were Messrs Yusof Halim & Partners’ Pengiran Khairul Nizam, Attorney General’s Chambers’ (AGC) Hajah Suriana binti Haji Radin with Messrs Abrahams Davidson & Co’s Ahmad Basuni as moderator.
Ten final-year Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Syariah Law students from the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Faculty of Law, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali attended the event alongside legal practitioners from law firms, members of the Judiciary Department and prosecuting officers from the AGC’s Criminal Justice Division.
The discussion primarily focused on criminal trial procedures while also exploring facets such as representation, plea-bargaining and disclosure. It also offered dual insights from the perspectives of criminal litigation practitioners and the prosecution.
The audience engaged in topics encompassing appeals, defective charges and pathways to success in the legal profession.
