Kuwait, Brunei ties strengthened by high-level visits

Bilateral relations between Kuwait and Brunei Darussalam continue to progress, strengthened by the exchange of high-level visits, said Charge d’Affaires ad Interim of the Kuwait Embassy to Brunei Darussalam Khaled Al Farhan.

He added that both countries have successfully laid a strong foundation for future cooperation in many areas of common interest, particularly through the signing of several agreements.

These agreements were signed during His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s visit to Kuwait in 2015 and His Highness the late Amir’s visit to Brunei the following year.

Khaled Al Farhan highlighted this in his welcoming remarks at the 64th National Day and 34th Anniversary of Liberation Day of Kuwait reception at the Royal Berkshire Hall in Kampong Jerudong on Thursday night.

The Charge d’Affaires expressed confidence that, under the leadership of both nations’ leaders, the governments would be further inspired to enhance friendly ties and achieve concrete cooperation in all fields of common interest.

He also shared that the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) is expected to make an official visit to Kuwait to hold discussions with their Kuwaiti counterparts, namely the Kuwait Investment Authority and the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to explore potential joint investment opportunities.

“I would like to highlight that the 4th meeting of the Kuwait-Brunei Joint Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation is scheduled to be held in the near future, where the agenda is expected to cover various sectors such as economy, trade, investment, and private sector engagement.”

Bilateral relations are also gaining momentum in cultural and people-to-people exchanges, the Charge d’Affaires said, highlighting Brunei’s participation in the 13th Kuwait International Prize for the Holy Quran and Kuwait’s participation in the 9th World Junior Wushu Championships 2024, hosted in Brunei Darussalam.
