THE STAR – Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu is facing a power outage since yesterday morning.
According to hospital sources, there was a generator to back up the operations and other machines for critical use, but it might not last much longer if they were not able to get the power back up.
From what is seen at the hospital, patients were being treated in the dark with medical staff using either flashlights or handphone lights to move around.
It was learnt that certain areas of the hospital already had its power supply restored at around 4.40pm.
An official from the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) said there had been no power trips or problems from their side which could have resulted in the outage.
“This means the problem is from within the hospital itself,” said the official.
