The Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque in Kampong Manggis/Madang celebrated its 10th anniversary with a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony yesterday.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was the guest of honour.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour, followed by a mass recitation of 30 verses of Al-Quran along with 79 qari and 79 qariah, comprising students from the mosque’s classes and congregants. The Khatam Al-Quran was enlivened with Takhtim recitation led by Hajah Samainah binti Haji Osman and the Dikir Marhaban led by Haji Kadir bin Kurus, Doa Khatam read by Haji Mohd Noor bin Haji Ibrahim and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam recited by the mosque’s imam Muhammad Khaizuran Amali bin Haji Kamsani.
Permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, department heads and senior officers from the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Defence, as well as officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, members and advisers of the mosque takmir committee were also present. – Lyna Mohamad
