The selection of a village head in Kampong Amo, Mukim Amo was held at the Amo Primary School’s hall in the Temburong District on Sunday.
The lone candidate eligible for the post was 58-year-old Hujan anak Muit, the acting village head of Kampong Amo.
He resides in the Amo ‘B’ long house and has been the chair of the Amo Village Consultative Council since November 1, 2008. Hujan is also chair of the Neighbourhood Watch.
During his tenure as the acting village head, he introduced as part of the One Village, One Product, handicraft products and kuih jala.
From 174 eligible voters, 145 of the 147 residents who turned up to the vote showed their support for the acting village head. Acting Temburong District officer Muhammad Usamah bin Haji Sarbini oversaw the event.
The result will be forwarded to the Board of Appointment, Discipline and Procedures for the Mukim Penghulu and Village Head at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA). – James Kon
