Brunei Darussalam, through the Land Transport Department (JPD), Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, recently chaired and hosted the 32nd ASEAN Land Transport Working Group (LTWG) Meeting and 14th ASEAN Multisector Road Safety Special Working Group (MRSSWG) Meeting.
The JPD also hosted related meetings including the 4th ASEAN Railways Sub-Working Group (ARSWG) Meeting and the 21st ASEAN Highway Sub-Working Group (AHSWG) held from September 4 to 7 at The Rizqun International Hotel.
The annual meetings aim to discuss the agendas and the implementation of land transport related ASEAN projects.
Acting Director of the JPD Ridzuan bin Haji Ahmad chaired the 32nd ASEAN LTWG meeting, joined by representatives from ASEAN member states, ASEAN Secretariat, dialogue partners and relevant organisations.
The Brunei delegates at the meetings, led by the acting JPD director, comprised senior officials from the JPD and representatives from the Department of Road, the Public Works Department as well as the National Road Safety Council.
The meeting discussed the implementation of the land transport-related measures under the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Blueprint and Kuala Lumpur Transport Strategic Plan (KLSTP); the implementation of sustainable transport-related measures under the AEC Blueprint and KLSTP; the ASEAN New Initiative related to sustainable transport; and the LTWG Workplan 2022-2023.
A report of the meetings will be presented at the 55th ASEAN Senior Transport Officials Meeting (STOM) and the 30th ASEAN Transport Ministers’ Meeting (ATM) expected to be held later this year.
