Inked MoU enhances Brunei-Philippines economic cooperation

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brunei Darussalam (NCCIBD) and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) to strengthen business and economic cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines.

Signing on behalf of NCCIBD was its president Haji Abdul Saman bin Haji Ahmad, while PCCI was represented by its Vice Chair for Asia and ASEAN Affairs Ramon D Escueta.Under the MoU, both parties will exchange and disseminate information to further opportunities to enhance economic cooperation, increase trade and expand investments in both countries, especially in areas of information and communications technology and innovation, halal food and beverage, smart agriculture and agrifood, manufacturing, franchising tourism, services, and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) development.

The parties will endeavour to organise outbound or host inbound trade and investment missions between both countries and assist in the identification and establishment of business contacts from their countries.

Each party will support one another in organising or participating in exhibitions, trade fairs, symposiums, seminars and other trade and investment promotion or events to expand business and economic cooperation.

The signing followed with an MoU for joint venture initiative in agriculture and MSMEs development. – Azlan Othman
