Individuals, company fined for littering

Three individuals were slapped with compounds by law enforcers from the Licensing and Enforcement Division of the Brunei-Muara District Office for violating the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021 in two separate occasions.

Nur Afifah binti Norazman and Siti Rabi’atul Nor Rafhanah @ Michel binti Omar Ali were issued compounds of BND100 each on Tuesday.

Meanwhile Ejaz Ahmad was issued a compound of BND100 for disposing domestic waste during the department’s Bersih operation.

A restaurant was issued with a compound of BND500 for the improper disposal of rubbish.

The individuals and company were given seven days to settle the fine.

The failure to do so will see the case brought to court.

If found guilty, the penalty will be no more than BND3,000 for individual and no more than BND30,000 for company or imprisonment of not more than 12 months or both. – Lyna Mohamad
