Vanessa Anak George began her journey as Nur Ayra Anessa binti George after embracing Islam and reciting the Syahadah in a ceremony at the surau of the Belait District Police Headquarters yesterday.
Acting Commanding Officer of the Belait District Police Pengiran Abu Naba’a bin Pengiran Haji Yusof was the guest of honour.
To commemorate the occasion, the guests sprinkled scented oil and presented gifts to the new convert, accompanied by the recitation of Dikir Marhaban before concluding with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah.
Head religious officer at the Belait District Religious Affairs Office Mohammad Aliyani bin Ismail and Acting Commanding Officer of the Police Reserve Unit’s Company ‘A’ Pengiran Khairul Anuar bin Pengiran Haji Salleh were also present at the ceremony.
The Belait District Dakwah Unit has recorded five converts since the start of 2024. Some 193 converts were logged last year. – Daniel Lim
