The recent viral list of applications for the National Housing Scheme (RPN) with titles KSPN (1) is fake, said the Housing Development Department (JKP) in a statement yesterday.
The agency said that the name list was previously uploaded on the department website to update the application data for the RPN in April 2017.
However, the viral information on the allocation of housing at the RPN Kampong Lugu is untrue.
The department advised the public to not fall prey and spread unverified information on the Internet or social media without confirming its validity.
“Anyone who spreads false reports or makes false statements, whether verbally or in writing, which are likely to raise public concern is committing an offence under Section 34, Chapter 148 of the Act and if convicted, can be fined up to BND3,000 and three years in prison,” said the department.
