110kg of dubious chicken seized

Enforcement officers of the Halal Food Control Division at the Syariah Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) and the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) confiscated some 110 kilogrammes (kg) of chicken tails and wings of dubious origin during a joint operation at Kampong Salambigar industrial area recently.

The operation also seized a vehicle. The case was handed over to the RCED. The MoRA said businesses wishing to bring in raw halal meat must obtain a halal import permit from the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB), in addition to documents required by other agencies for importation of meat.

The ministry also thanked the public for sharing information on untoward activities to safeguard the interests of the Muslim community in the Sultanate.

The public with complaints and information on violations of the law can contact 7166222 or visit any Halal Food Control Division offices. – Azlan Othman
