Hosea bags bronze in international wushu meet

National wushu athlete Hosea Wong Zheng Yu bagged bronze in the Men’s Taijiquan event during the Invitational Wushu International Tournament 2024 held in Jiangyin, Jiangsu province, China recently.

The country’s leading male athlete scored 9.646 points behind gold medallist Malaysia’s Zi Hong Wong and silver medallist South Korea’s Hyeongjun Choe. Brunei’s other representative Walid Lachkar clinched ninth place overall in the Men’s Daoshu event out of 18 entrants.

Amid an international field of talents hailing from various continents, Walid’s score of 9.403 points ensured a top-10 finish.

The pair was accompanied by coach Zhao Chunjie. National coach Li Hui expressed his satisfaction and pride on the athletes’s achievements.

“These two athletes have been training hard with their skills,” he added.

The head coach, who has overseen a period of success in recent times, noted the great progress made under the guidance of coach Zhao Chunjie.

He also conveyed his gratitude to the government especially the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Brunei Darussalam Wushu Federation for their unwavering support.
