His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will make a state visit to Bahrain from June 9 to 11.
His Majesty’s state visit is upon the invitation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain.
During the state visit, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is expected to meet His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to discuss matters of mutual interest towards further strengthening bilateral cooperation before witnessing the signing of several documents between the Government of Brunei Darussalam and the Government of Bahrain.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s state visit to Bahrain reflects the strong bilateral relations between Brunei and Bahrain, where this year will mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries since its establishment on September 24, 1988.
The state visit will also further boost bilateral cooperation in various fields of common interest including investment and finance, as well as defence.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam previously travelled to Bahrain on a state visit in September 1988, and His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s last working visit was on April 21 to 23, 2000.
Meanwhile, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa made a state visit to Brunei on May 3 to 4, 2017.
