His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam arrived in Dubai yesterday to attend the World Government Summit 2022.
His Majesty was invited by President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Abu Dhabi His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan to attend the summit today at the Dubai Exhibition Centre.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
His Majesty was welcomed at the Royal Airwing, Dubai International Airport by UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Omar bin Sultan Al Olama.
Also present at the airport to greet His Majesty were Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof and Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the UAE Haji Harun bin Haji Junid.
While in Dubai, His Majesty is expected to deliver a keynote speech, attend a meeting with Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and tour the Expo 2020 Dubai.
Diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the UAE were established on May 28, 1992. The two countries have cooperations in various fields including economy, trade and investment, energy, education and air services.
His Majesty last paid a state visit to the UAE in 2006.
