In the spirit of celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri, children eagerly await the cherished tradition of receiving Raya packets from loved ones. Traditionally green and rectangular, these packets, also known as green packets, have evolved to embrace creativity and innovation.

Entrepreneur Rukanil ‘Althouf binti Haji Ali has taken this evolution to heart, specialising in the creation and design of mini Raya packets or mini envelopes.

Inspired by social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, Rukanil ‘Althouf embarked  on this venture last year, while design and production started in 2020. “When we first shared the designs, many showed interest in the mini candy envelopes. Children would love receiving them and even parents liked the design,” she said.

Additionally, envelopes can be personalised with preferred logos, designs and patterns, to enhance its sentiment.

The envelopes are available in two sizes, 4×2 and 6×3, with each set containing 10 pieces.

Rukanil ‘Althouf’s entrepreneurial venture not only adds a creative touch to the traditional Hari Raya celebrations, but also underscores the adaptability and innovation within Brunei’s entrepreneurial landscape.

According to Amey, one of her customers, such unique and creative mini Raya packets could encourage some to start a collection.

Meanwhile, Miau B who started venturing into mini Raya packets design eight years ago, shared that the demand for these envelopes is overwhelming.

The idea to create and design unique Raya envelopes came from a craft partner in Malaysia. Miau B now designs customised flower bouquets, goodies packets and door gifts, along with its Raya envelopes. – Rokiah Mahmud
