His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen on Friday afternoon visited the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival at the Sun Island Scenic Resort, Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China.
The arrival of His Royal Highness was greeted by Party Secretary and Chairman of Harbin Modern Cultural Tourism Investment Group Kong Qingbin and Party Secretary and Chairman of Harbin Ice and Snow World Guo Hongwei.
At the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, His Royal Highness viewed several ice sculpture replicas of world famous landmarks, among others, the Great Wall of China; Grand Palace (Thailand); the Merlion (Singapore); as well as an ice sculpture made especially for the visit of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to Harbin, China.
The Harbin Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, held annually in Harbin, China, is the world’s largest winter festival.
It began in 1963 with simple ice lanterns during New Year celebrations, which later evolved into intricate ice sculptures.
