Graduates have been prepped to make an impact: UTB Vice-chancellor

Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) graduates are highly talented and have been nurtured to make an impact in their fields, supported by a conducive learning environment, personal guidance and opportunities for growth.

This was said by UTB Vice-Chancellor Datin Paduka Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman at the 12th UTB Convocation Ceremony yesterday.

“They have brought pride to the university and the nation by excelling in innovation competitions at national, ASEAN and global levels,” she said.

She noted that the graduates’ skills add value to their learning experiences at UTB and their inventions will increase the university’s intellectual property rights, including patents for the  industry.

She also shared the introduction of 15 new degree programmes, which aim to meet market demands, as emphasised by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah during last year’s convocation.

The vice-chancellor added that the university will continue to review its programmes to ensure they align with workforce needs.

She also said the university is expanding its international presence through strategic global collaborations as part of its vision to become a global university of the future.

The digital marketing transformation initiative plays a crucial role in boosting UTB’s global visibility, in line with its international aspirations.

The focus on global prominence aims to attract international academic staff and students, enriching the campus with diverse cultures, learning experiences and innovative thinking through research, she said. – Lyna Mohamad
