Gift of better sight for four

Daniel Lim

Four students residing in rural Belait yesterday received prescription glasses from the Belait Lions Club as part of a continuation to the sight project last month.

The club members travelled to Chung Hwa School in Labi to hand over the prescription glasses to the students, sponsored by Vision Care Kuala Belait.

The club also handed over 16 boxes of Cebión vitamin C supplements to the students and teachers.

Region 6 Chairperson Dato Winnie Lee secured the sponsorship.

Project organising chairperson Belait Lions Club Secretary Past President and District Chairperson for Sight Preservation Awareness Action (Brunei Darussalam, Sabah, WP Labuan) Joseph Teo explained that there is a growing concern for individuals afflicted with eyesight problems.

“We hope that by providing ease of access to eyesight testing, which we had done in our previous visit, coupled with the prescription glasses and vitamin C supplements, it will help ensure the young students benefit from it,” he added.

Immediate Past President Johnny Cheong and Lion Robert Chew were also present.

The initiative was part of the club’s signature project aimed at raising awareness on the importance of vision.
