Former FABD technical director appointed as Persebaya head coach

Northern Irish coach Paul Christopher Munster has ended his stint as the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) technical director following his appointment as the new head coach of Indonesian top-flight club Persebaya Surabaya recently.

The Liga 1 outfit has reportedly reached an agreement with the UEFA Pro License holder to oversee the club’s remaining matches in the 2023-2024 season.

“Right now, we are focusing on getting the players back into condition because they haven’t trained together for two weeks; we will focus on that first. We want to make sure the players feel good” Munster was quoted from the club’s website.

The Green Crocodiles, who currently lie 13th in the Indonesian top flight, will resume their campaign against PSIS Semarang on January 30 before facing Munster’s former club Bhayangkara on February 4.

The former FABD official said, “I have time to prepare the team. Together we will find out how the players work and provide progress to the team.” He added, “To achieve that, everyone at Persebaya must work together and work hard.”
