Following the festive spirit surrounding the nation, various organisations and communities hosted Hari Raya Aidilfitri gatherings, forging closer ties among its members, friends
and families.
A Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration was recently hosted by Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) at its campus in Gadong.
Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh attended the celebration. UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal was also present.
This year, UNISSA faculties and departments were divided into various food stations, featuring Thai, Indonesian, Oriental and local cuisine.
Yesterday, around 170 members of the travel industry and their partners attended a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open office hosted by Sabre Travel Network (Brunei) Sdn Bhd.
Guests included representatives from airlines, national tourism offices, banks, travel agencies and corporate associates.
Sabre Travel Network Brunei General Manager Abdul Halim bin Haji Abdul Rahman said, “It is always an immense pleasure to see everyone come together under one roof celebrating a common joyous occasion.”
DES School recently hosted a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration with its primary and pre-school students.
Students held ‘open class’ with delicious foods and activities such as quizzes and a ‘best-dressed’ competition enlivened the gathering.
The highlight of the day was a performance of the song, Alamak Raya Lagi!, by De Fam, showcasing their youthful enthusiasm and love for music. The teachers also joined in with their own special surprise performance.
The DES Daycare also celebrated the festive season with its own gathering, with 19 children and their parents enjoying a potluck in traditional Hari Raya attire.
In the Belait District, the Kampong Lumut 1 Village Consultative Council hosted a celebration at the village community hall.
Acting Village Head of Kampong Lumut 1 Taib bin Haji Salleh said the celebration aimed to establish closer relations between the consultative council and residents, while also marking the festive occasion.
Meanwhile, the Baden Powell (BP) Guild also organised a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration recently, which saw guild members and fellow scouts strengthening ties with one another. – Rokiah Mahmud, James Kon & Daniel Lim
