The Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday ordered a Bangladeshi to settle BND22,000 in fines, or risk serving 13 months of jail for possessing smuggled cigarettes, cash from illegal sales of cigarettes and a mobile phone used in the sales.
Md Yousuf Khan, 25, was arrested at a house in Kampong Delima Dua at 10pm on January 10 by a team of Customs preventive officers in an operation.
Magistrate Fatin Fikriyah binti Haji Rosli further ordered the cigarettes to be destroyed and the cash and mobile phone forfeited to the state. – Fadley Faisal
