The Ministry of Education’s (MoE) primary focus is on policy review and development in early childhood education (ECE) while creating awareness on the benefits and significance of ECE.
The ministry is also continuously working on reviewing and refining preschool curriculums to align with international standards and enhancing the quality of preschool teachers, said Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh.
The minister also emphasised the ministry’s commitments towards Brunei Vision 2035 and transforming education for the future of regional community.
Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah said this during the Ministerial Roundtable at the Southeast Asia Policy Dialogue on Early Childhood Care and Education in Jakarta, Indonesia yesterday.
The policy dialogue themed ‘Transforming Early Childhood Care and Education in Southeast Asia’ was held in conjunction with Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship and organised by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia with support from the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting and the ASEAN Secretariat.
The event officiated by Indonesian Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim aimed to enhance awareness of quality early childhood care and education (ECCE), to discuss policies and identify actions, foster political commitment, and provide a platform for sharing experiences and best practices in implementing ECCE programmes.
The Ministerial Roundtable dialogue was preceded by the Southeast Asia Policy Dialogue on Early Childhood Care and Education attended by Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the MoE Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin on July 25.
The MoE also held bilateral meetings with several ASEAN member states and regional organisations to discuss matters on strengthening cooperation and programmes on education and early childhood activities.
