Some 100 villagers from RPN Kampong Meragang, including village consultative council members, youth and Muslimah group, attended a flag-hoisting event to mark Brunei Darussalam’s 41st National Day at the premises of Az-Zakireen Mosque yesterday.
The event highlighted the importance of respecting the national flag and fostering unity, love for the country, and dedication to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and His Majesty’s government.
The ceremony also aimed to instil a sense of national awareness and responsibility in line with the 41st National Day theme, ‘Bersatu Mencapai Cita Negara’, while supporting Brunei Vision 2035 and the philosophy of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB).
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Lawi bin Haji Lamat, who is also Kampong Subok Village Head, was the guest of honour. Acting Penghulu of Mukim Serasa Mohamad bin Haji Tamin was present. – James Kon
