Five teams were formed to compete in the Belait District Basketball Association’s (BDBA) Lim Enterprise National League 2023 as the first matches were held on Saturday at the New Village Mutual Aid Association’s Basketball Court in Seria.
Lim Enterprise Director Tony Lim, one of the sponsors of the competition was present, welcomed by BDBA Chairman Koo Kong Loi.
The contenders are: Unity, Chicken King Fast Food, Tutong, BBA Youth Squad, and Thye Ann Goldsmith.
Koo Kong Loi hopes that the players will exhibit friendly sportsmanship and said the association will continue to develop the sports in the district, with more tournaments planned.
The BDBA chairman also handed a token of appreciation to Lim before meeting the players.
The first day saw Chicken King Fast Food going up against BBA Youth Squad, with Chicken King Fast Food netting their first win with a final score of 109-38.
Meanwhile, the second match of the night saw Tutong compete against Unity, with both teams started strong in the first quarter. Tutong gained a single-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
While this lead was reversed as Unity managed to gain a foothold in the third quarter, Tutong made a final push in the last quarter to net their first win with a final score of 51-45.
