Three houses were destroyed in a fire that erupted in Kampong Sungai Kebun on Sunday. The firefighters brought the fire under control in an hour.
There were no casualties or injuries reported, and the cause of the fire and estimated losses are currently under investigation.
Some 39 firefighters from the Sungai Kebun Fire Station and the Pelancaran Fire Station, led by ASO Kalali bin Haji Munchit and with assistance from the Bandar Seri Begawan Fire Station, Beribi Fire Station, Pengkalan Batu Fire Station and Berakas Fire Station were dispatched to the scene of the incident.
On arrival at the scene, firefighters immediately worked to extinguish the fire by using seven hose jets with water obtained from open water and nearby fire hydrants.
The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) meanwhile, advised the public to ensure their homes are equipped with fire extinguishers, fire blankets and battery-operated smoke detectors while wirings and electrical appliances should be installed by qualified technicians who meet the to standards set by the Department of Electrical Services.
Electrical appliances when not in use should be switched off and gas regulators unplugged or covered when unused.
