The Executive Committee of the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) has announced the removal of its President, Haji Feisal bin Haji Eusoff Patail, with immediate effect, citing violations of national laws, a press release from the association said.
The decision, made in accordance with Articles 17, 18, and 24 of the FABD 2023 Statutes, was taken unanimously by the committee. The announcement follows the directive of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
In line with Article 41.7 of the FABD Statutes, the committee has appointed Haji Mahrub bin Haji Murni, the Deputy President, as the Interim President until a new President is elected at the next FABD Congress.
Both the removal and the interim appointment took effect on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
The FABD said that it continues to uphold its commitment to upholding transparency and the advancement of football in Brunei Darussalam.
