GENEVA (AFP) – Swiss prosecutors are probing an explosion that seriously injured a young girl in Geneva, judicial authorities said yesterday.
The explosion happened on Monday afternoon in an apartment building in the east of the city, sparking a large-scale police operation.
“A young girl was seriously injured,” Geneva judicial authorities said, adding that national prosecutors with expertise on explosives were on the case.
According to local broadcaster Leman Bleu, the girl was around 12 years old and had been injured by the letterbox explosion.
Swiss media drew links to another incident in Geneva in August, when a man was injured after he picked up a garbage bag placed in front of his apartment.
